Write about a character who suffers from discrimination; it can be anything, go wherever your imagination takes you!

I am Rosa Parks

I was exhausted of giving up. Weary of obeying laws that discriminated against me. I boarded the bright yellow bus. Under the rusty white only sign, the seat was a greyish color. It called to me, cushioned and welcoming. I stood in front of the seat hesitating. The other passengers on the bus stared at me; the white folk with their questioning eyes and the black folk at the back with worried eyes. I sat down. We arrived at the next station. A tall menacing white man got on. The moment he laid his eyes on me, he demanded, “Give me your seat!” I refused. I would not budge as I was not going to accept being treated less human than this man. At that moment I was every black person that had ever been told to move, I would be their courage. It would start with my bus seat.

Waiting
I look at the grey drab door. I think about how no one is guarding it. Fair enough since no one here is worth guarding. No one here did anything remotely wrong. All I want to do is go through that door and get away from these suffocating fluorescent lights. I close my eyes and quickly wince in pain. I had looked into the officer's eyes just before he had given me the hit. I don't know why. Maybe I was searching for remorse, sorrow, anger, any emotion would have done it. Would have proved to me that maybe he cared or at least realized the impact of his words and the fist barreling towards my face. But I couldn't because not for a millisecond he glanced at mine.
“Serves you right” was the last thing I had heard before passing out.
What I would do when I got home was beyond me. More like if I got home. Probably bawl like a baby. Because I still didn't know what I was in for.

Thank you all for sharing your stories with me, I hope you enjoyed your time writing. I had a hard time choosing the winner, as I liked both of your stories.

Jawad:

I was hooked by your story and favored the use of Rosa Parks as an example of The Civil Movement. The vocabulary wasn't grandiloquent, yet conveyed the message perfectly. The imagery in the first sentence was vivid.

Mar:

Your use of literary devices, was really good and had me imagining your story perfectly. I liked your use of vocabulary too. The last sentence was really deep and had a great meaning behind it.
