My lovely brain island
Thankfully the government pays me to keep my brain open and it’s accessible to anyone. My mother keeps telling me to add gates and charge admissions but things are much lovelier this way, all open and free. In winter there’s lots of snow on the mountains, and little chalets sprinkled everywhere, and warm places to eat, and farms with beetroots and pumpkins and whatever else is in season. There’s a lake that isn’t frozen over and it’s filled up with fish— really big fish, ones that could feed a whole family— and there’s cows with big bells that moo loudly so you hear it as you go to bed. It’s cold but in a good way. And the sky is always cloudy. And soon in the spring there will be little mushrooms popping up, and wildflowers, and hypoallergenic grass. Above all there would be a library in my brain, one I simply do not visit. The books are all dusty and crammed with old annotations and I don’t bother to clean any of it up, even if I keep thinking about it.

Thank you Lara for participating in this week's prompt! I thoroughly enjoyed reading your flash fiction. My favorite part was,"The books are all dusty and crammed with old annotations and I don’t bother to clean any of it up, even if I keep thinking about it." It was a really strong ending. The imagery there really helped me create visual representations of the ideas you were conveying in my mind. It must've been a difficult prompt as no one was able to participate in it. Once again,I thank you for your outstanding work!
