Finding Myself in a Corn Field

One gloomy day, I forced my eyes open. Something was wrong, this didn’t feel like my bed. I felt around for my duvet, I was immensely cold. My skin felt scratchy, my eyes itchy and a sneeze erupted from me. I sat up and saw tall corn ears towering, corn as far as my eyes could see. I stood, completely stationary, frozen. Suddenly, six other teenagers appeared, each looking as confused as I was. Slowly we approached each other, huddling together. After some talking, we decided not to sit idly, but plan our own escape. Using the sun as our compass, we decided to head North. Of course, nothing is that simple. As we walked ahead, we soon realized that we were in the middle of what appeared to be an obstacle course. Before us, was a pit of venomous snakes. Trepidation filled our hearts, as our only hope was to run and jump across the pit. We all took a deep breath then ran, and jumped. Only three of us made it. I tried to drown out the screams of those who had fallen. We were tired and hungry, but we had to continue. The second challenge soon became visible, we had to cross what looked like a checkerboard. Each tile was numbered, our guess was that we needed to chart a path through. I found some pebbles in my pockets, so I clenched them tightly. I threw the pebbles on each plate, before stepping onto it. I crossed safely. My peers were not so lucky. As they perished, I heard their cries. I was left alone. Colossal door emerged before me. I pushed them open with all my might, gasping, eager to escape this nightmare. Instead I saw another cornfield, corn as far as the eye could see.

Is this the after life?
Words: 298

“Go to your chores!” “food is ready” the orphanage teachers said but i was annoyed but finally at the end. Finally, “I just want to escape, Leave! Never come back, ugh” I said annoyed, my ‘friend’ sara said “ no one wants to adopt teenagers” “I don’t care someone must want us?!” sara put her head down, and I prayed “please oh lord let me be alone” and immediately fell asleep, “ugh what is poking me”, I opened my eyes “A field” everything is broken, the trees, everything ?! “Miss!” I screamed as I walked a few steps, where ever I looked, emptiness “someone answer!” I screamed “Teacher!” again, just Nothing I sat down, whispering “It's just a dream its just a dream” I hate this, I hate society, I hate life, I hate…. There's nothing left to hate but myself, well then, I hate myself, yes that feels right, right? Hours passed, oh no something I didn’t think of ‘food’ ugh I stood up and walked a few feet… shadow? what is it putting down, I ran after it, I saw food and stoped, “t-thank you!” I said, I started eating without a hesitation, next day, no one was there, a day passed, foot steps walking to me, I must be hallucinating… I wasnt the food next to me was pretty real to me and the girl next to me can confirm. Wait “W-who are you?!” I screamed “how are you here” she didnt answer me “who are you!” I screamed “ how are you here, you are still young” she said “i dont know” “And the note? How did you bring it with you” she said, “what note?”she handed me a note “your wish is my command-s” who is S, theres only one s in my dormatrary…. Traitor.
