Prompt: Go wild. Give me the deepest darkest corners of your mind brought to life; reanimate your nightmares in the form of words; write what you feel is the personification of despondence. This is freestyle; if you want to write nightmare fuel, go ahead. If you want to tell a sad story, why not? If you want to vent your anger in words, go wild. If you want to write happiness so beautiful, so pure it hurts, do your worst. What I want is raw, powerful emotion (any emotion you feel is powerful enough to match the prompt). I want to feel my soul shatter reading your words. Good luck.

It’s Alive
I saw it, all over TV there were reported sightings of a monster in the neighborhood. I was shaken to my core, I couldn’t believe it, I laughed it off and changed the channel. Hours later, it was the middle of the night, I was cold and freezing, then I heard screaming. “IT’S REAL!” I thought it was just a prank, as there were no other sounds, and I didn’t see anything. I look outside and I see footprints, they were not human… So I went to investigate, I brought a flashlight, bait, and a weapon. I heard footsteps, rapid but weak, scary but relieving, it made me nervous. I turned around and “BANG!” goes the gun, I shot it, the creature is dead. I go to the news and inform them; they tell me it’s impossible. “How?” I asked, they said “look behind you,” It’s alive…

The Longest Fall

Fall is an amazing season for relatives coming together, playing, etc. However, one day everyone went out and I’m home alone, and I believe that the blankets on my bed are a safe place to hide. I closed all the windows, doors, and I turned off the lights in the house. I was thinking: what if someone comes to kill me? What if someone comes to murder me? It was the longest day in my life. The time went so slow as if the fall season went over and over 5 times. Suddenly, I heard a vase breaking in my parent’s room. I went there shaking. I took a deep breath and opened the door slowly, and the room was in complete darkness. I took one step into the darkness, then another step, and then I turned on the lights. It was...

I held her in my arms, the corpse of my best friend. I sobbed with so much pain, as I stared into her bloodshot eyes, mouth full of blood and body with more bruises and cuts than I can count, I had to let it all out, just then I yelled out a sharp and shrill cry, I got up with all the wit I had left in me, and I glared at the monsters standing around me, ferocious beings with horns like those of a bull and teeth like those of a saber-toothed tiger, they took the lives of so many innocent souls, which in a blink of an eye had been murdered. All kinds of thoughts swarmed through my head but only one settled: “my fate was in their hands” . All I could do now was hope, hope that I’ll see the light of day again.

Experts from the diary of a gust of wind

no one asks me why I'm here, why I weave between the flowers and the trees. Why I knock there hats of or ruffle there furs. Sailboats ride with the waves but never stop to think about what's pushing them. Perhaps its that they are used to me. For how would a bird even imagine a sky without current to glide on, or a camel imagine not having the light weight of airborne desert sand pressing against its fur. But although they go on in there oblivious merry lives , I sometimes pause and wonder why I whistle and rustle up a symphony worthy of the sky and earth combined if it falls on deaf ears. More than recognition, I want someone to tell of my travels, someone who apon questioning will not reply with answer, but with a question back.

Congratulations, Mar, you've won! The imagery is beautiful, and the vocabulary is used in a way that avoids purple prose but showcases your excellent writing, while staying completely on track. I can't stop re-reading it!

Everyone did great, but in a way you thought outside the box. There was tragedy, and heartbreak, and fear, all of which I was glad to see, and were excellent in themselves, but you gave me a philosophical question to ponder, something stronger than fear, or sadness, or anger. For that, I applaud you! And of course everyone who participated, I enjoyed all your works VERY much, and hope you'll participate again in Mar's prompt. :)
