You are home alone and it starts to rain. The power suddenly cuts off.

The Rain

He always thought of her in the rain. If he were to be honest with himself, she rarely left his thoughts anyway. But the rain was different. She had loved the smell of the earth after a storm. He had not even known that smell existed before her. Had anything existed before her?

What would she say to him now? Half-drunken, shoulders hunched, tears flowing like the rain outside. He straightened his back at the thought of her. There was a hesitant moment of peace at the memory of her smile. The brevity of it was impossible. The grotesque blood-covered face was there instead. Always there.

She had tried to smile at him even then, her legs crushed, her body entangled with the metal. Raining. She had so loved the rain. The smile was to ease his pain, she was always such that now, there was no him without her.

Me, myself and the moon.

At 8:00pm, October 30th, alone in my room with my thoughts, I went outside my balcony to gaze at the moon lighting the rainy sky. It looks so pretty, it pains me that I can’t watch it all day, even at night it can find its way into hiding behind buildings.
I began talking to the moon, whimpering about the pain I'm feeling. I giggled at the happy moments that came to my mind. I laughed and I cried. I took a deep breath, and I grabbed my sketchbook as I squeezed my thoughts, trying to come up with something to draw. My eye spotted one of the pictures I have on my wall with her. She loved the moon, I still remember her, standing on the balcony with her white dress and her chocolaty, long shiny hair adorning her back. Watching the full flower moon, May 26,2021. She looked so angelic. My darling, my beloved sister. I miss her every day.
The power suddenly cuts off. I light a candle and play our favorite song “Chiquitia” by ABBA, closing my eyes back, with myself and my own thoughts in the dark.

Deleted Voicemail
“I`m staring into my own reflection, the lights obscuring the view of the city below me. My eyes follow two parallel raindrops inching towards the bottom of the sill. They remind me of us, because just like us they will fall closely but never together. But that´s the whole point of our relationship isn't it? We exist in the space between. That space is the only reason I can't have you and the only reason I want you. Because let's face it we dont know each other, you say we have met but I pray we never will. I only want to be around you because my projections and insecurities lead every thought about you right back to me. It's the optical illusion in front of me. You are the light canceling out the darkness of the night, and blinding me to alluring and breathtaking view of the city`s cold reality. But if lightning struck, and the lights went out, I would press my fingers into an electrical socket just to get them back on, because you are the only thing that allows me to see myself through all the confusion.”
